. The Sea of Cortez is a vast body of water located between the Baja California peninsula and Mexico’s mainland. Having a surface area of 62,000 square miles it is thought to be one of the most diverse seas on the planet. So many species live in these waters that famous ocean researcher Jacques Cousteau referred to the Sea of Cortez as the world’s aquarium.
